Alexis Rockman to speak at Five Points Arts

TORRINGTON — Five Points Arts announces the return of its artworld lecture series with a talk at 7 p.m. July 30 with painter Alexis Rockman “A History of Ice” in the Wilson Sheehan Auditorium at the Five Points Arts Center, 855 University Drive, Torrington. The event is free and open to the public.

Rockman is an “eco-warrior” who began making art in the service of environmental awareness. His work has been exhibited around the world and showcased at prestigious exhibition spaces, galleries, and Museums including the Venice Biennale, The Carnegie Museum of Art, Smithsonian American Art Museum, and Serpentine Gallery.

Rockman also notably worked on the film, “The Life of Pi” with Ang Lee. Rockman’s art served as the backbone for much of the film’s aesthetics.

A special cocktail meet-the-artists VIP Reception is scheduled for 6 p.m., before the lecture. Tickets are $50 each and are available at www.fivepointsarts.org
